Junior Training

Pairs blitz competition. Each round will comprise teams of two, making alternate moves, with no conferring. We will pair people so that each team has roughly the same grading.

This popular Christmas event will be followed by traditional refreshments!

Odds of pawn for every hundred rating points (or equivalent in pieces-3 pawns for a minor piece and 5 pawns for a rook). The maximum handicap will be the equivalent of 7 pawns. This competition will promote playing between opponents of very different ratings, on a more even playing field.

There will be two games, one where the stronger player playing black chooses which material to give up, and the other where the weaker player playing black makes a choice. Twenty minutes each on the clock.
