Open Events

Open events in the club began in 1995 when I started organising Allegro tournaments in an attempt to utilise the clubrooms more effectively for the good of chess in Scotland in general. Thirteen events were held and this was followed with five FIDE rating tournaments which can be read about on the Games pages. Pressure of work eventually brought these to a stop but Willie Rutherford later ran some Allegros and followed this with 4 more FIDE events.

David Archibald is now planning more FIDE events and would be happy to hear from anyone wishing to play in one.
