Congratulations to Edinburgh 1 who finished the season with a 3 – 2 win against Dundee A and took the national league title with seven wins out of 7. The second team drew with North Ayrshire Crusaders to finish safely above the relegation places. In the team lightning the first team finished third behind Hamilton and Dundee A, the second team eighth out of eighteen teams. My thanks to all who have taken part in the national league this season

Both teams started the new season with two wins. In the top division Edinburgh 1 beat Greenwood and East Kilbride A. In division 2 Edinburgh 2 beat Dunfermline Knights and Dragons A (the latter a particularly good result as we were outgraded on every board.)

Both the first and second teams finished their SNCL campaigns with good wins, leaving both in third place in the first and second divisions respectively.
In the lightning championships the first team made a strong showing to come second to a Hamilton team with 2 IMs. The second team finished 8th out of 21 teams.
My thanks to all who took part for during the season.

Last Sunday (23 Feb) saw rounds 5 and 6 of this year’s national league. The final round is on 30 March with the lightning championship in the afternoon.
The first team produced two good wins against Hamilton and Cumbernauld. The firsts are now comfortably in mid table with league leaders Dundee to play in the final round. The second team had a good win against Giffnock but lost to East Kilbride, and is just above the relegation places and needing a win next time to be sure of staying up, or a draw if results go our way.

Membership subscriptions for the new season became due on 1 August 2013. Please help your committee members and team captains by paying your subscription promptly, so that we don’t have to spend time chasing slow payers. I will be at the club on Tuesdays for the next few weeks and happy to take your money!
